JUMPING THROUGH HOOPS - ALSO KNOWN AS QUOTING FOR A JOB...
« on: November 13, 2017, 08:20:11 am »
I'm currently filling in a form for a job quotation.  It's pretty tedious; about 12 pages long wanting to know how we even source our consumables and how much we pay (if any) contractors.  It wants to know about uniforms, DBS checks and ID cards.

But this bit made me smile (my reply with the red arrow):

Actually, looking at it, I need to have one.

Has anyone a copy - or just a cut and paste of the wording - of their equality and diversity policy?

Just say the following 'we only employ white male straight privileged Englishmen, the rest can whistle'.

You're guaranteed the job. Promise.

I had to offer up our fraud prevention policy when I quoted a couple of years ago for a commercial job. Don't have one, said so and explained why, that was okay. What you've put probably covers you to be honest.

It's okay, I googled for one and found a 'standard policy' which I've cut and paste, amending company names.

I've not even read it properly.

I doubt they will either.

You should consider adding the words "Gender Fluid" or "Neutrois", they will be falling over themselves to offer you the job.

Is this Hanover housing?

If so just agree to their policy as instructed.

I did a quote for Hanover once. Lots or irrelavant questions, environment policy etc. What a load of rubbish. Took me ages to put the quote together. Next time I will just give them the standard quote, risk assessment & method statement. I think they’d already made their minds up to keep their existing cleaner. Total waste of my time. Live & learn I guess.

Hanover Housing?
I got asked to quote  several sites for them a few years back because they had a window cleaner who used ladders and they needed the work to be carried out by reach and wash.
We went back and fourth the area manager even had me turn up to view a site when the current cleaner was there, fill out all tender documents, send insurance and rams for them to say it was to expensive and they would be sticking with the current window cleaner.

They are a joke don't invest to much on it as they only want very cheap window cleaning.

Forgot to add that what peed me most was after all that health & safety form etc etc the cleaners they stuck with are trad including second floor. I know because I’ve seen them cleaning it.

I just do the one Hannover site.  It's a morning's work for two of us, and it works out as a very good hourly rate.  The payment and cleaning frequency is a bit weird, they pay me monthly, but we clean them every-six-weeks.

They're always on the button when it comes to payment too.

I like the job we have.

I've never had a problem with the jobs I have from Hanover housing.

They did get me to quote for some further afield but my price was too high, mainly due to traveling costs.

same here - all the sites are 8 way but paid half every 4 wks

prices are good but the last quote turned out to be for a complex 30 miles away and only for 2 entrance doors!

no thx

I was asked to quote a residential home for Hanover a few weeks back. The form was too long winded for me to be bothered to fill it in. I did notice that they would give the work out on 40% quality and 60% price. A 12 month contract, just a paper excercise probably.
We look at them, they look through them.

The residents usually take a vote - so normally ( it would appear ) that the current windy stays
