We binned those because they were crap.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Y-Strainer-Brass-Stainless-Steel-Mesh-for-Air-Water-Various-BSP-Sizes-Female/253007746291?var=552055903805&hash=item3ae86fd4f3:m:miiwCKswRUxrFHfhmquAyTQMore expensive but much, much better.
As Nathan said facing down, there's no need for anything better as they're more than capable of stopping things like grit and so onfrom damaging the pump, other than that they serve no purpose.

With using hot water the plasit ones often spring a leak. What connections would you use with them to secure the hose?

Never bother with the filters, pump works fine without filter
