Should I dump or not?
« on: August 31, 2017, 09:30:42 pm »
Got a new custy who has "ditzy" written all over her.

So after she sees my number on the van she calls me as I do a few in her road and I arrange a day to go round and quote this big Edwardian three floor semi. I price at £50 first clean (minging) and £30 thereafter or agree only £18 for front and side if she's not in.

I tell her that if she wants to know more accurately when I'm gonna call (for backs) then to pencil in 8 weeks but call me a few days before due date so I can tell her more exactly.

First time I insisted on cash beforehand (just had a feeling - all a bit "nice" and "fluttery eyes") but she lets me take nearly two hours and THEN almost as I'm finished she announces she will go off to the cashpoint to get some lolly and would I wait?  ::)roll

In fairness she was back exactly as I finished and put everything away and was about to start "tutting" for a minute prior to "fuming".  ;D

2nd time she texts me and I confirm the date. "Oh I might not be back from camping ..." (aging VW driving hippy chick) So I say, well not to worry I'll do front and side. (Back is hard work)

So I do front and side and leave a bill.

Two weeks go by and I think "hmmm - not paid" and I text her and she texts back ... "I haven't set your account up - I'll do it ASAP."

Another week and I text her again and I get "Every so sorry. Had a crazy couple of weeks (who cares?) Can you send me details I've lost your slip."

I do and she pays straightaway.

-------
Today I've had a "When you calling I need the backs doing" type of text.

Here's a shortened version ...

Me: "Sept 4th"
Her:"Any idea what time as I want to open the gate?"
Me:  "Probably between 11 am and Noon"
Her: "Or I could leave a key in the key box and give you the code"
Me: "Great."
Her: "But I've only got one key and I might need it for my guests and they might lose it"
Me: "I don't understand, sorry."
Her: "I have airbnb guests and they might lose the key before you get there so I'd rather not."
Me: "So what would you like me to do? Is 11 am to 12 noon not specific enough?"

I await her response.

Looks like she has won a stay of execution at least until I turn up or I get some dopey text between now and then.

She just sent this ...

"Yes that's fine it's just that I have a lot on that day and wouldn't like to forget! I'll put a reminder on my phone."

Me: "Excellent"

Sometimes you have to just hang in there a bit longer and see where the 'journey' ends up.  ;D

Don't dump if it's well priced . Sometimes people are just not organised but always pay in the end .

Or....dump if you can't be bothered with the stress of chasing payment

get the gate code and key then you ll be able to clean the lot every time or its goodbye.thats what i would do malc.

i picked up a new customer the other day(£80 first clean,£65 ongoing 8 weekly cleans)gorgeous house and stunning views but with large electronic gates.i basically said without the gate code i wouldnt take the job on.all sorted. :)

the job will take me an hour i reckon after the first cleans out of the way so happy days. :D

She seems to be trying to accomodate everybody all at once and getting lost in the process. However she seems genuine about wanting a cleaner and she pays when shes prompted.
I have some customers who opt to pay via online banking and more than not i have to send a reminder. Now these opted to pay like this rather than set up a regular standing order. So initially i dont mind a couple of late payments because when i see them i explain  how the regular payment would be easier and they jump at the chance to set it up.
So a little patience makes it worth while and she may become a great customer.
BUT thats if your happy with the price and is it really worth that much stress over

has she got nice big tits ?

this is very relevant to dumping or not
Aye, big bras get caught more on the pole when out on the washing line. It does my head in.
I'm going to have to start returning them. There's some that have ended up in my knickers collection drawer now.

Update.

So I turn up bang on 11 am and of course  "Ditzy" (qu'elle surprise) isn't home and I notice my phone has a text on it to the effect of "running late - the dishwasher broke - if you start the fronts I'll be back to open up the gate."

I roll my eyes and ignore the text but carry on.

By 11.30 I've done the front and side and write a slip for two thirds of the price and I'm on my way.

At 11.35 I pull up at the next job and there is a voicemail. "I'll be there in ten minutes."

I ignore that too and switch my phone off. I finish the job and look at my phone again - no more messages. I guess she realised I'd come and gone!  ;D

I'll give it a week and no doubt will not have been paid so I'll send a chaser.

But she is dumped. If I get paid then great. If not good riddance anyway.

I've got one who knows bloody well I dont do insides but over the course of a couple of months she ends up getting me to do them. 'Can you just do the sitting room today', next month, 'can you just do the dining room', then its onto the upstairs over the next two months. A break of 4/5 months and off we go again. Every time I say never again but shes too nice and pays an extra £10 per room.

Shes pimping you!!

Either do them (inside windows that is) or dont. Wave a tenner in your face and a smile and you clean them.
