Interesting.

I'm not a swivel fan although I have one on the van. This is one of those products that needs to be individually tried and you will either love it or hate it.

Thanks for sharing.

I like the look of that.  Looks like it could be a neat bit of kit.  As Spruce says though I'd need to try it before singing it's praises.

I love my swivel.  Tried working without it the other week. Was real wierd.

not a fan - i just don't get it - looks unstable has extra weight and is too long putting the user at a difficult angle to operate

I've yet to find a window where simply standing to the side or moving your arms you can't clean it with a fixed head, and that works well with the brush horizontal or vertical

(just my opinion)

Everyone is missing the trick with swivels- you need to manufacture one that swivels from an angle to the brush and NOT at 90 degrees to it. The original MKI Gaz swivel (if you've been around long enough to remember those) were like this and they have never been bettered. The whole unit works so much better this way, you hardly have to move your body position to achieve any angle while retaining full "flush on" contact between brush and glass. A 90 degree swivel is a 90 degree swivel- they all work the same way.

i agree i won't use quick lock for the same reason -the angled brush socket is way better

Agreed. I use quick lock only for convenience- an angled socket works so much better and is easier to work with giving a much better balanced and even distribution of input force to the brush- as well as a better user view of the brush when in use..
Can't give you a picture of the Gaz swivel as they are long gone. He took them from something else and adapted them to fit a wfp brush (the brush was crap, old Salmon jobbie- remember them?) but the swivel was amazing.

I agree the  angle to the brush.
One in the video was one from another manufacture  that made here in Australia.
We have our own version that will allow you to use the brush in the way you described.

He cut/removed the swivel mechanism from one of those deck scrubbers. I bought a couple many years ago when Gaz stopped making them. I didn't bother with it tbh.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Colour-Coded-Stiff-PVC-Heavy-Duty-Tile-Deck-Scrub-Floor-Scrubbing-Brush-Handle-/331692692467

I ordered one from him, he cashed the cheque and never saw the brush.  A few others experienced the same. He kept promising delivery and it never arrived. He eventually said that he couldn't get the swivels any longer, but I never got a refund.

We had an apartment clean with 24 Juliet balconies and I was hoping that this swivel mechanism could speed up our job. It took ages feeding a fixed brush through the gaps to clean behind. I believed that this swivel would allow me to direct the brush through the bars vertically and swivel around to horizontal to clean the glass. (You can turn the brush through 360 degrees on the glass with this scrubber.)
The necessity for this finished soon after as we lost the job due to the owners going bankrupt and the Receiver taking control of the building.

That's the one. Notice how the angle is from the pivot point and not further back- this makes a big difference.

i just turn the pole 90 degrees to go through then back to the horizontal when through

i must be missing something, somewhere  ???

In those days we were using  Vikan oval brushes. Their fixed thread socket was angled for vehicle cleaning  and not window cleaning.

So to get the Oval brush between the gaps on that job, we had to feed the brush in by standing at an angle. Once inserted then another sideways step to be standing correctly for the brush to be on the glass.  As this swivel worked both ways (the Gardiner ones only work sideways) I felt that this on an oblong Salmon brush that was the way to go.

Those were the days when we didn't have many choices and had to improvise a fair bit as you will remember. Nowadays, we are spoiled (or is it spoilt) for choice.

You can turn it vertical , push it through the bars, then swivel it back to horizontal?

Yes. A bit like a wagtail squeegee, you twist the pole and the brush changes angle. You can clean a patio door right down to the floor without moving your body around to compensate for a fixed neck. They are brilliant once you get used to one and have it set up properly.

This is the unit I use.
http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/water-fed-poles/goosenecks-pole-fittings/plastic-gooseneck-system/quick-loq-resi-neck-type1-swivel.html

The swivel action is close enough to the brush that it's action is easy.  The first time I tried a swivel it was similar to the one pictured above (orange brush) and I really couldn't get on with it.  Not because of where the swivel action was but it was too floppy.  So I went back to a fixed Gooseneck and didn't try a swivel again for years.  But 18 months ago noticed the q-loq one above on Gardiner's website and decided to give it another go as you can adjust the friction of the swivel action.  I fell in love with it straight away.  I use them on both my poles now.
