 These Gibbons blowers would whoop the velo or any of those 200w things ,   a customer had one and decided to put it on a mattress when i was leaving  ,  might pick up one or two for upholstery or mattresses on their side .   
It wouldnt be particularly quiet or light ...  but its got that 1.5hp 6.5amp  motor ,   not sure how there measure cfm ... but it states a low 550 or so compared to what the snail blowers usually state , but this thing blows strong .

Thanks , yes indeed , different specs there .    If i get one il report back if they have any good practical use , they have a nice small footprint for not taking up much van space .

curious to see if was usefull i actually ordered one of these things and iv being using it for a couple of days  ...

Firstly , how do they make and sell this for about 100  , for the price of some crappy vac motor its an impressivly substantial product .
The good points are its size , about the same as a medium PC case , it can tuck into some unused corner of the van .
Its built to take a whack , so its not going to get damaged easy .   Its got great drying performance .
The bad points , mainly its quite noisey , the whoosh is as loud as two snail blowers , sometimes noise wont matter but i wouldnt have this on if room wasnt isolated from the customer , or if your doing upholstery a few feet from this youd need ear defenders .There is some plastic flaps that open when u switch it on , i think they are contributing to the noise , i can easly unbolt them so it may be a bit quieter after , there is still a metal grill behind that .
So in conclusion , newbies reading this youd be better get a full size 1hp snail dryer like the B- AIR from Ashbys , its a much more versatile and job specific blower .  But anyone who could see a use for the Gibbons as a great extra blower to have around when u need those cushions dry etc . And considering its cheaper  and better built that those 200w or 300w mini or flat dryers and 5 times more powerful its definitly the best blow you'l get for the money

Did you speak to Scott regards using the blower without it being attached to an inflatable?

I personally know Scott and the Gibbons fans as I spent 7 years cleaning their offices and factory, in Tollesbury, where I live.

I have spoken to one of the young women who worked for Gibbons fans on Thursday this week 20th, regarding using these fans to dry upholstery and carpets and the qualified answer is that the fans cannot be used in this way, as they need the back pressure of an inflatable to work properly.

Josie has told me that if the fan is run on its own it will overheat and cut-out. These fans are especially designed and engineered to only be used to inflate bouncy castles and other inflatables. They are NOT designed to be used for any other use, unfortunately.

Hi Phil , at the price It was a bit of a punt .The label does mention it has an auto reset thermal fuse fitted ,as would most motors .but I had it running for over an hour on two occasions and it was fine . that's the kind of duration I'd be using it over but yeah i take the point that its not its intended use .

Hi John,

It's good to hear that the Gibbons fan does work fine for you in our cleaning areas. Josie told me that Gibbons fans had tried to get hold of the B-Air fans range to sell as retailers, but could not get the stock in.

If you look on the Gibbons Fans website they do sell a sound reduction hood for their fans that reduces the noise from the fans, as they are aware that the sound levels of the fans can be a problem if used in an enclosed area.

I do know that their fans are well designed and are fully compliant with all UK and EU specific electrical and health and safety regulations regarding inflatable  products blowers.
