which vacuum cleaner?
« on: February 14, 2017, 03:28:19 pm »
My vacuum cleaner seems to have come to the end of its life. I was going for the Sebo comfort but I have heard its  not very robust and was wondering what you guys recommend. Sean Bradbury from Dry Fusion seriously thinks his own make is the best (obviously) and was trying to sell me one. I really want something robust and one that I am still able to get spares for in 8 years time.

Not sure about 8 years but I guess a Kirby would last that length. I use a Seborrhoeic BS36 find it great. Easy for parts and repairs.

Thanks Jonathan,
Maybe I am expecting too much 8 years, how long is the average lifespan? I had my old red Dry Fusion one for 7 years and never a problem, though stripped and cleaned it once a year. I think motor brushes have gone now or are going. Kirkby are on the heavy side for in and out so much but strong vacs.

So it seems the Sebo is favourite. I gather the latest Sebo has trouble with some brackets breaking, is this right, has anybody had trouble with the latest model? Does anyone know roughly when the new model was brought out as I would prefer to get the older model if it is better built.

I'm pretty sure they have stayed the same for a few years its the B36 comfort that everyone goes for. Ive had mine nearly 4 years now without any problems.

Well it was a balance between price and availability with delivery,  a Sebo would have been tops but browsing down ebay I came across a Karcher CV38/2 at 179.95, a reasonable price I thought for a new machine that was reduced because it had been on display, in the end I only paid £150. Early days yet but I used it today and it seems light reasonably quiet and has good suction,  a 38cms width and comes with tools too. Thanks for all the replies.
