Insurance quotes
« on: January 26, 2017, 06:39:40 pm »
Anyone charge for them? Had 2 in the last 2 weeks where they have got me down to do a quote for cleaning and right at the end they say......."Could you put that in writing,  as it's an insurance claim"

If they had said when they called it was an insurance claim I would have told them there is a £48 charge for insurance quotes which is deducted from the final invoice once the work  is completed.

Let's be honest they just want a cash payout and never call back ::)roll

couldn't agree with you more with had plenty in the past saying you will get the job
but as soon as you say there will be a charge there conversation changes and say why should
we pay when you are getting a job out of it. I respond well if you are that sure pay the charge and
it will be refunded once job is completed that's the last you here from them happy days time wasters

Yep, my minimum charge, and if in the situation you describe above, I would explain the charge and wait for payment - no payment no quote.

I thought about being a bit sneaky about it ;D ;D

I email insurance quotes as a PDF document which they download, I should send them a link to pay £48 to receive the password to access the quote :)

What are they claiming for?

When I used to work for service master an insurance report was more 'telling' than a quote, a quote would be TO CLEAN lounge £xxx but insurance would be more of TO CLEAN and spot remove red wine ....

Unless you state that if you want a written quote for your insurance we have add risk assessment and method statement and that it's a legal letter stating what you are going to do blah blah

Charge for the 'report' on the understanding it will be reimbursed if and when you are appointed.

Shaun I've had a leather suite clean where they had a water leak upstairs and it dripped through the living room ceiling, when they called I was told "they wanted their suite cleaning"  another call was living room carpet wis  a red wine stain, I thought I was going to remove it but they didn't want me to even attempt it unless I could  gaurentee total  removal.....  they wanted a new carpet, they even tried to tell me what to write on the letter.

Mike

you might not get a job but you can get some great photos of the damage and use them in your marketing.

At risk of repeating myself, do not do it without charging for the report and its not a quote but an estimate and make sure the insured know that they are paying for it NOT the insurance company, otherwise they will get you round and ask you to invoice the Insurance company for your time which of course they will never pay.

This way you get rid of the time wasters and the entitled and instead only get qualified insurance leads.

As a side note, nearly everyone has an excess to pay usually between £50-£100, explain to them they can use this to pay for your report and put it against the excess which the insurance company do recognise as a legitimate use, this usually calms the resistance and ensures you get paid but it also gets you in-front of the Loss Adjuster or Insurance claims clerk which could result in additional work.
