I have 650 up against bulk head in trafic van, I lose about a foot of space between the bottom of tank and bulk head, top of tank touches bulk head. I use the space behind tank to keep pumps.

But if I was buying a new van I would look into a custom made tank to fit the shape of bulkhead, maybe cost a bit more but u could have shaped to spread the weight better

I have a 600l custom built tank in dispatch with 900kg payload.

I took it to a weighbridge with full tank, 1/3 tank of fuel and a set of ladders and I weigh 11 stone. It was 30kg within limit. Both front and rear axles were also very close to their max. The tank is set back from the bulkhead to evenly distribute the load. If right against bulkhead the front axle would have been overloaded.

Filling from a static system I find it easier not to have to fill tank to the brim anyway, so having a tank that is slightly bigger than the max payload is easier than trying to fill a 500l tank to the brim.

This is exactly what I want to do, just have that little bit of leeway for maybe 50 -75 litres more rather than to the brim. Hoping I could maybe fit a 600 ( if there is such a thing, as I keep seeing 650's ) and just top it up past the 500 mark ?
If Carlsberg made window cleaners....I'd be one of them....lol

There is a guy who makes custom made tanks, can't recall his trading name though.
Jonny (87??)on here should know, plus a few others as he's had a tank custom made, if I'm thinking correctly!
