« on: October 05, 2016, 03:36:41 pm »
Good Afternoon,
for anyone who wrestles with 10m of Numatic hose for Gutter cleaning. How do you carry it?
At present I stuff it into a stow bag but its not very suitable. Does anyone have it on a reel?
 ???

why? because I'm fed up wrestling it into a bag.
But your suggestion might be worth looking at, thanks.

I've found wrapping the vac hose around larger type vacs ok up to a point when restricted access is not a problem. However when wanting to move the vac say down a narrow path between walls/fencing, through garden gates, etc the hose makes it much wider to move about so can get in the way.

I find now using a popup bag not only useful to carry and store the vac hose in the van but very quick & easy to take in/out. Not only that the main advantage for me it stops crap dripping everywhere and I have somewhere to put different size/type gutter nozzles etc so are easily at hand when I need them.

When you mentioned about putting 10m of 51mm vac hose on a reel it would have to be a very large reel due to the diameter of the hose and very cumbersome if you wanted to move it about surely?

However if you wanted to go down the very expensive van/trailer mount route using much more powerfull engine driven roots type blowers then you could use van mount carpet cleaning vac hose reels instead. However all that would be overkill if you ask me and you would be still limited to the total lenght of vac hose you could actualy use.  Not great if you do large gutter clearing contracts on say blocks of residential flats etc where access/parking is an issues and you then need to use a portable vac instead because you find out yer van/trailer mount vac hose is not long enough.  ;D

Cut it in two, put a cuff on each piece and use an aluminium connecting piece. You get the best of both worlds then. 5 metres for smaller jobs and 10 metres for bigger ones.
We find it much easier to handle and store two shorter pieces than the one long piece.

Funny you say that Nick as not long after getting a 15m hose I cut it in half as you do.  ;D
