little beasties help
« on: September 25, 2016, 09:58:32 pm »
A little advice from either us northerners or the southerners please.

I use a 450gpd pf RO unit, with 3 prefilters. Sediment, carbon and then fibredyne (i know fibredyne (not sure on spelling) does same job, but eh) then into my 4.5ltr di and into my black ibc tank.
I have a 10cm2 flap cut into top of ibc tank so i could get my transfer pump in (think i have to secure this down).
I also know obviously filters work and remove the chlorine. My question is how do i clean my ibc tank as i have little beasties swimming on top of my water. Tds is hardly effected, but whats best method of cleaning tank and can water be saved?  Ived taken a litre of water out in a bottle n added a drop of 5% hypo from home bleach demestos but the tds shoots up. So im guessing treat tank with bleach n flush water away. How good a rinse will it need?
Whats best advice chaps?

It's funny u ask I have just cleaned my tank tonight, I needed a bit of bite to help clean some cladding up and had a 5l bottle of bleach so used it up over a few tank fulls of water.
If doing this make sure to disconnect di bottles, I wouldn't recommend running bleach or any chem through them

I run what was left out then filled the tank up with water and ran it out threw hoses, til tank empty again

Filled tank up with fresh water ( 102 tds ) and ran it threw di bottle and came out at 003, let it run for 20 mins more and checked it again 003 still so just left hose in tank an let it run through system and back into tank

I added some milton fluid to a glass of pure - tds shot up a fair bit.  :o
