Quick way to empty the tank!
« on: September 19, 2016, 11:40:20 am »
Van had to go in for a service today, I forgot to empty the tank (they don't want the extra 700kg on their lift)
So, I flopped the guttervac pipe in the hole, fired it up for about five seconds then whipped the pipe off. Couldn't believe how fast I could dump a tank using the syphon technique  ;D

Might try diesel next!

Nice thinking.

I empty mine with a hose pipe syphon sucking via mouth.

I used to use the vac for cleaning out our tanks whenever they had any debris on the bottom.

Be careful you don't flood your vac motors and ruin them.....carpet cleaning machines have a cut off for vacs when waste tank is full but not sure if guttervacs do.

Impossible done straight away, miracles can take a little longer.

With a gutter vac , I was advised to suck up a good few litres to wash all the mud that sticks inside the poles out , so I don't think it's a problem

Was thinking 700 litres sucked into a less than 700 litre guttervac.....hard to judge how much you are sucking out as presumably doing it 4 or 5 times depending on size of quarterback.

eh, i think you just turn the thing on to create a syphon then straightway after a couple of seconds pull the pipe off..hey presto

Not advisable to switch gutter vac on and leave..although mine does cut out when full
