As long as your pump has a pressure switch fitted or you have a flow controller with dead end detection in your system it will be fine.

Here's a selection of some of the flow controllers available to buy:
https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?gfe_rd=cr&ei=oXfCV7jqLrTH8Afcr4XoCw&gws_rd=ssl#q=wfp+pump+controller&tbm=shop
Although some people use a more basic system that have just an inline on/off switch between the battery and pump (with pressure switch).

Answer is yes it will be ok
Surflo pump is prob best bet to use, once pressure has built up the pump cuts out til the water is able to flow again then kicks back in.
