commercial toilet hard floor
« on: August 24, 2016, 10:24:17 am »
After cleaning some carpet for a commercial, they asked me to look at some other stuff including two large loo/handwash areas. The flooring is hard vinyl with a raised reguler small circler design in it. Customer concerned with dirt not removed by mopping and some areas which he feels is limescale. No idea any suggestions. I have a bonnet machine with option of pads and brush fitting but no idea re products and process. Thanks Simon

tell him needs to train cleaner. BICSc do a really great course, not joking . its amazing how people dont know how to remove dirt from a floor. just ask the tile guys on here how many customers dont know how to mop. you have the other types that put far to much detergent in and wonder why carpets are getting dirty.

good luck

Ian - sorry but I cannot understand a word that you are saying - I see the words but they dont make sense. He asks how to clean the flooring not train someone else to clean a floor. That wont solve the immediate problem....perhaps you don't know.
So.....................
Get your rotary
Put down an alkaline degreasant - get some if you need from Kev Martin if you dont know, or have a janitorial supplier.
Use a pad - the softer ones will "bend" into the dimples or use two one on top of the other. You can use a brush maybe but it tends to flick up the solution into the walls and skirtings. You can get a round skirt for them but for the first time use a pad.
Rinse off with water or a slightly acidic rinse and you are PH neutral. Limescale I would use Phos as its less corrosive but only sparingly if you need. Limescale shouldn't have much iof a grip on a floor like that.
Let it dry and they come up like new.
OK round the loos get a doodle pad and do it by hand.
The tilemaster machines are also great for this as they vibrate the soiling from the vinyl. I personally use a Klindex Mini for that sort of job.
Starts at the bottom likes it and stays there

Would be handy if you could post some pics then it might be easier to give you more precise advice. What speed is your rotary machine (too fast and it will be useless) also pads are very ineffective on dimpled safety flooring. Cylindrical brush machine is the best for use on safety flooring.

Check the floor isn't rubber as too Alkaline a chem can strip the colour out of the floor if it is.
