Roof access/method
« on: June 12, 2016, 04:00:10 pm »
Looking at my options for cleaning the roof on the left, on the other side there's a garage with a sloped roof which doesn't help.
What's your thoughts?

If the gate is wider than 800 mm then you can get a spider lift to the rear

The front and back can be cleaned from the roof ladder but the gable ends aren't accessible with a roof ladder. I could add the hire of a cherry picker on to the quote but the house with the ladders was done cheap as I wanted it! and his price is going to be a couple of hundred more as it is.
Normally I would pressure clean and then apply a bio wash or in this case (house with roof ladders on it) customer wanted a manual clean followed by the bio wash.
What I'm thinking is apply a stronger biocide leave it a day or two and then hopefully a light pressure clean working from a tower with the pw tele pole.  I've never worked it that way so I have nae idea what to expect.

Access is pretty tight but room for my narrow tower. I couldn't handle the telescopic pole for a length of time though.

Hi Alan, can I ask what sort of money are we talking about here to clear moss etc by hand then biowash that tiled roof afterwards?

Sorry again for going off topic but curious to know how do you guys protect yourselves from any comebacks during/after a tiled roof has been cleaned & treated?

Reason why I ask the last thing you want is to be reported to HSE and fined also possibly sued for water ingress, roof damage and maybe a new roof due to wrong methods used.

There's not a lot of moss on these as only around eight years old. Cost? £120 less than I would normally charge for a clean. They could probably get it done for half the price though!

In case this has been interpreted the wrong way the roof wasn't £120 it was £120 under my normal price.

I've asked (two emails) the chemical supplier what the cost, dilution rates and coverage is of a new product they were bringing out this week.
A few days has passed now and they haven't replied!
What should I estimate the cost for chemicals (not hypo) to cover a roof of 160sqm with a light amount of moss. £60 or £160

what chemical? It was a new stronger moss/lichen, tennis court type stuff. Their sales rep told me on the phone it was coming out the next week and no one has replied to my emails yet.

What company is it?  Do you have a data sheet for the product we could look at?
