Real leaded windows
« on: April 11, 2016, 06:17:16 pm »
Hi everybody. Still alive.
Could you wonderful people give an old git some advice.
I'm starting up again soon and have the chance of some work in a quaint little village in the Cotswolds.
Most of the houses have leaded panes as in the individual squares of glass held together with lead.
I know gentleness is an absolute must but what kind of brush would you use?
I thought of a Jetstream but the jets would wash dirt from the stonework above the glass.
Advice gratefully received.

Gardiners ultimate single trim flocked.

It's the best all round brush I've ever used, but on real leaded it's the best.

Just glides over with no judder.

Use a low flow rate on the true leaded as well, as they inevitably leak. Me personally I'd use the above brush with 3mill (wider) jets with a low flow rate. You will have far less problems.

Hope your health is improving and glad to hear your going to get back at dem Windows.

All the best.

Jonny.

Cheers guys, had a look and it looks good. Will order one soon as skint at present. Starting from scratch again but I know a lot more this time round plus have a couple of good mates in the game who will give me work.
Spent four months in hospital, been out a couple of months and still recovering but so bored in going mad.
Cheers again guys.

We do a lot of real leaded windows.

They all leak, but there's no way I'd hand-bash them.
