I've canvassed parts of Yorkshire and came across many guys doing 4 bed detached for between £4 - £5, with a conny for £5.50 -£6. Needless to say it was a hard knock.

It don't matter to me what others charge as you will always find someone will do it cheaper anyway but that don't guarantee they will get the work though either. If they do then may soon regret and hate doing that work when they realise that they have underpriced it.

That price sounds about right for yorkshire. 

My next door neighbours windy charges £4.50, so when youre trying to charge double or more the price which has been conditioned into the local population its not easy. Just means you have to knock twice as many doors, put out twice as many leaflets and have twice as many rejections than if you were to lower your prices but its worth it in the end.

the area where I live in west Yorkshire is saturated with windys  so the competition is  rife I have had quite a lot of my round canvased  a few times already this year  but I haven't lost any  anyway  I will charge what I am happy with weather it is cheaper  than any other windy so long as I am putting food on the table etc  I don't worry what any other windy wants to charge or thinks  the price should be in there opinion

I am Wakefield/Dewsbury area. I get it all the time. I got a call for a quote. Bungalow and quote £10. They say that's fine. Next door wants a new windy also. Same price OOoW yes that's fine. Like it was cheeper. I ask how much other guy charged. £4. WHAT! lmao. Make no wander he did a bad job. " months later, women across rd asks price for front only. She wasn't impressed as other guy does it for peanuts.
It the odd few that lower the price of the job. If we all keep prices high. They will have to pay. We will  earn more and have to work less

I did a free window clean today on a 5 bed detached property.
That was after a full exterior deep clean including their block paving driveway aswell.

Client said "Oh thank you everything looks like new again and the windows have never been so clean. When our traditional window cleaner does our windows the glass always looks worse after he has finished. I'm sure he uses dirty water in his buckets and just spreads it about. He is due again so when he turns up I will say no not this time thanks"  That's no bull either as was exactly what she said

Went to quote a semi today with extension on the side and awkward windows on back in good old Yorkshire.  13 windows 2 doors. £12 sir. How much ? I was paying 6.

Already told him on phone it would be at least a tenner so why bother asking me to go look.

AS it cost me 4 quid to arrive at the front door it will be no less that 12 quid for even just one window. I find it amazing how prices can be based on bedrooms in a house as there  might be 1/2/3 receptions rooms a study and a few hallways and landing never mind the difficulty factors of the clean. Then to justify by saying it only took 20 minutes to do ignoring that it could take 40 minutes to get there to the address. If you can work fast should your customer score by a cheaper price or if there are more customer in the street or not.  I work on every house is a 30 minutes job if it take less I score, If its longer then I price more.
