Did a quote for a large posh 5 bed detached house today to check & clear the gutters & downspouts on all four sides of the property.  Then clean all the plastics including fascias, soffits, gutters, all apex bargeboards, porch cladding, all the windows including frames, glass and sills, all the doors etc that was all in a filthy state.  Then do the same on the double garage including clean the garage windows & doors.

How much do you think the old Scottish lady wanted to pay?

Put it this way she was a wee bit short of my quote and I thought she was going to have a heart attack when I told her.
What made me laugh though the old boy pipes up to the old girl  "you get what you pay for dear." At least he doesn't seem to be living in the past and wants a proper job done.

What made me laugh even more their house is worth over a million so the old lady is not that daft after all methinks.  ;D

Im toying with idea of adding power washing to my services, asked a customer today if shes had any quotes for her bricked drive to be cleaned. Curious to what the going rate is in my areas. I soon found out i asked wrong customer. It was a big drive, i was thinking around 400 plus.
She said a gypsy gave her a quote about six months bk and was a silly price. That she could get some weed/drive cleaner chem many times over and brush it in herself and still have change. So i said was curious to know price. She said 40 quid!! I did laugh, tried not to but did  ;D

From your description it sounds like a full days work. So you thats what you're going to charge.

I expect she wanted to pay about £50.00?

She wanted to pay 80...bless her. Then said "but I can't seem to get hold of the chap that done it last time." I wonder why I'm thinking  ::)roll

I quoted £400 and said that's my price if you want it done properly this time. However I normally would have charged you more but being Scottish as I know what they can be like I gave you a very good price. She just laughed  ;D ;D

Ladders & pole gutter tool on that one would not really be any good on some parts of that house

Full days wage. Price depends on person and area.
Depends on how easy it is to do
I would want £100 for gutter clean and £100 to £150 for plastic cleaning. Its a ball ache but all at same address.

Shes might not be daft correct the thing is she thinks the window cleaner is or did, that makes me laugh about some people it gives me a great feeling of satisfaction when I see the look on there face when they thought they'd have me over thinking I need the work only to get a price they thought they didn't want to pay.

Sorry I mean the look on there face when you give them the correct price, the look on there face when your about to give them a figure is the look of anticipation followed by disappointment. Old people try it on they are not stupid they just think everyone else is,she new it would be more than that price she paid before she was just hoping you were as daft and would be as cheap as the last one.

You are spot on NWH...Sometimes I just get a gut feeling I'm just wasting my time and my gut feeling is normally correct.
Still I was asked to send a written quote via email but she said "There is another chap coming out to give me a price" so I will not be holding my breath for that one and to be honest I can't be arsed to send a written quote either  ;D
