as a long term project this can work. but you need to add content every day. its a great way to position yourself as an expert. google is a search engine it answers questions that people type into it, so answer those questions. "how to clean" is key. when adding content most cleaners will write promotional type copy this is the wrong approach as this info comes after the question has been answered.
You need to look for cleaning questions lots of people are searching for. and in time if your lucky one will take start to get hits. the time you wait is because each post will list under the fold in search results. but what is great about this is that when people are researching a buying decision or problem they will look at lots of the results and if your answer is informative and google knows how long people spend on your page then it will rise up the listing.
I can give you two that are very hot and dont get that much written about them, calpol and milk spillages.
when writing about any subject dont sales pitch just be helpful as most people will not be using you but by reading your info give your site in googles eyes expertise and in return they judge your info as more important that the results above you and next time that question is asked you move up the page.
get a few of these pages and your main page will rank better for what you really want and thats prospects in your area looking for your services.
Now back to your idea, why not offer users on here a page where they write a review about there business that links to their page. again not a sales pitch more an interview type article. that way you get loads of content thats carpet cleaning related and they get a link from a site that has lots of content about cleaning. this goes back to the quality of links. as an example of this cleaners using cleantalk will have good links from that site as its open to google to spider where here our links dont get that juice as it has a wall. these type of link have more value to both ends.
I can go on but this post in far to long as it is
PS. did you know that google will index a page quickly but only compiles those pages about every 3 months. I read this in a book about google rise. so changes to pages and new pages will take that long to take affect. this is why its so hard to know what you done right or wrong when making changes
PPS if you dont like writing then images are great for step by step instructions. young people use google image search a lot and ladies love pinterest, so a mum that uses pinterest for shopping ideas that has a new born (milk and calpol) where out of habit will she look for answers? this is whats called customer profiling
