000 -075 ppm?
« on: January 06, 2016, 08:27:44 pm »
Hi folks, hope you can help me.... I'm putting a few customers on wfp this week. The problem is I have filled a new wydale tank half  full through my di..  I haven't fitted a pump to the van yet, so have been filling the back pack from a tap on the tank. I'm getting a tds 000 through the di, but ive just taken a reading from the tank of 075..  Does the tank need flushing out? Do you guys pump tap water into the tank and then di in the van? I'm a bit wet behind the ears but a 075 ppm rise from the tank seems excessive to me?  I have a bit of time this weekend so could fit pump and controller and then double di in the van..is this where I have gone wrong. Thanks in advance  :)

i use my di from outside tap through two vessel's and it reads 0 the tap water around here is about 29ppm.

seems strange you are getting a reading like that. Sounds like tank may need cleaned.

If it's brand new tank I usually give it a clean and flush out.

Di only is ok if your tap tds is low but can rise dramatically once thr resin is spent, if your monitoring the tds closely then it maybe safer for you to di after the tank .

We process our water into holding tanks then transfer to vans as required

Thanks guys. Yes, Darren I have a tap tds of 96 and have just tested outside di and I'm getting a 000 reading.. I'll give the tank a good flushing out tomorrow as my reading has gone up from di of 000  before going into tank and then coming out at 075!

You did make sure the di was the right way round when you filled the tank?

They have in and out ....

Take a TDS reading of what comes out the brush.

Then you'll know what know what the actual reading is of the water you are cleaning with is.
Just chant..... Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna, Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. It's beats chanting Tory Tory or Labour Labour.

take a reading of water leaving your DI vessel before going into your tank.     id empty your water tank and start again,    try and dry your tank out, use a pole with a dry  non fibrous cloth.   then fill up again, keeping an eye on water entering the tank.
so put DI vessel before the tank.          Unless you are using your DI vessel after your tank.
if your waters so low tds,     just use an ro,    shouldnt need a di vessel.

Thanks Johnny.. It's definitely the tank. Filled backpack straight from di today and got a 000 reading.. Used mine and my mates tds meter and tank gave us both a reading of 075, so I'll drain and clean tank and start again.

I suspect it's because the tank is new and due to the manufacturing procces just needs flushing through with pure.
Should be fine after that.
