Few Noobie Questions for Rotary Cleaning & Agitation
« on: December 02, 2015, 04:35:07 pm »
Hi guys,

quick couple of questions:

I have the chance to buy a 15" floor buffer/rotary, ive pretty much bought all my equipt apart from this.

just wanted to know are all floor buffers the same in terms of universal for fitting pads, and if this size would be suitable for both domestic & commercial.  What is the max RPM it can be?

Which type of pad would i use for standard agitation after prespray?
which pad for a bonnet clean?
which pad for helping the carpet dry after bonnet clean?

ive not found anywhere that clears this up fully and simply.

Thanks

Hi John no they are not all the same drive board fittings.
You can use on both dom and comm but 15 inch on comm is going to take a while.
They make for good agitation tools If poss with a shampoo brush or a scrub pad. There are several available. I have heard of people useinng white polishing pads. Not done that myself to be honest though.
You need a relatively heavy rotary around 30 kgs but low speed anywhere between 150 and 200.
Some people will use faster machines but personally I would not go higher than 175.
Hope this helps

ok, this one is 1080 RPM so definatly no good!

i get everything you say, apart from "not all the same drive board fittings" as when i have looked for pads on ebay, they are sold as Universal "fits all 15" rotarys".  so this isnt the case?

Hi John sorry misread your post, I thought you meant changing drive boards between machines.
Pads on the bottom of a drive board are universal. Shampoo brushes are individual to the make of machine.
Yes that is way too fast, sounds like a burnishing machine for putting a shine on a polished floor.

That machine is only for burnishing or can be used for vitrification.  You need 154-200 rpm max really.   In the issue of floor pads they are in the main universal anD it is only the quality that sets them apart in price.  Regarding drive boards and brushes we sell a German made interchangeable system that fit all make and all sizes of machines.  The only thing is you buy the central clutch to fit your machine and then you can have any brush or drive board.   Watch the video in the link below
