Anyone had a solution hose burst on a job?

How often does everyone replace the lead solution hose and whips on tools?

Yep, had it once in a posh home, just finished and the end burst right in front of the customer, black all up the walls and all over a baby grand piano.......

It was on TM as well so alot of power and burning hot..........

She was really good about it, although think she was in a state of shock  :o

Ever since then I've made sure I replace the solution hoses each year and wrap the connectors in case they split.

Once it happens you understand why they call it black death ...... :P

Funnily enough she has phoned today to book her regular clean in, so no lasting damage.....

silly question then, is this something truck mount operators are prone to??
Is it due to the increased power/heat?
should a portable operator change solution hoses on a regular basis??

 The result sounds terrible........

I had this happen on a porty, the powrflite 1350.  Mind you I was using the crappy 300psi 'daves hoses' hose as it was all I had the week I got the machine. It was set to around 200psi but as the heat kicked in it went pop. Oops

Had this go on porty before, best thing you can do is to put the solution hose in the vac hose quick.

i think if you run heat it will perish the hose quicker but looking on the US forums there is a topic about it. Apparantly when the hose gets crimped at the end for the fittings to go on, it allows some water to get to the wire braid in the end of the hose. Water, heat, acid rinse etc causing corrosion until it lets go - that plus the bending the ends get on tools etc.

My main ones are 4 years old so i think i should change them now!!

my main 5o foot is in second year so should be okay for a while im thinking!   also have two 25 footers i use when longer runs are needed so they have much less use......   ill keep going with em......   suprised ive not heard of this before....

Went and got it repaired , cut  off a couple of ft and fitted a sleeve to strength the end, (as they always got at the end) this line is 18months old

well done - you could do without that all over the place!!

i think a change in the main line or a cut back and new coupler every 12 months is looking like a good move
