Cheers for the reply Dave.. What does it get the ppm down to and did you use it with or without a pump?

No Problem Dave,  my tap tds is about 170, without pump takes it down too 011 ish, with pump takes it down to 001 ish, can double check this if needed. We literally used it for 2 weeks so membranes are nearly new. Open to sensible offers.

Cheers Dave, I'm toying with upgrading my ro from a 450gpd "normal" unit and I use an Aquatec pump like this..

http://www.purefreedom.co.uk/pumps-controllers/pumps/24v-aquatec-reverse-osmosis-booster-pump-power-supply.html

Do you think that type pump would work on your one? If you can check tds with pump that would be great... My tds from tap is around 300  ???

Thanks again

Hi Dave, I cant see why that booster pump wouldn't work with it. I believe Gardiner's sold a booster pump similar to that not too long ago.
TDS are all reading the same as quoted when tested today.
We boosted it when we used it for the 2 weeks with a garden water transfer pump NOT a purpose built booster pump and it worked great. The rate it produced pure water at was really good.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
Dave.

I'm pretty sure that pump won't be a lot of use with a Merlin. I have one and looked into it when I bought a Clarke pump about a year ago.

My tap TDS is around 300 and with a pump and new membranes I get down to about 14 before DI.

Hi 8weekly, thank you for your input. I am 'pretty sure' that this pump would be ok to use with the system. Of course a rotary vane pump would be the best solution, but, dave already has the pump he has mentioned so it would be worth trying it IMO.
I remember people commenting years ago about my £10 (b&q in the sale) transfer pump not being suitable for powering a 40/40 system I had, how wrong they where!
We now run a "DIY" twin 40/40 with rotary vane producing  "ultra pure" water for 5 vans. This system was built 6 months ago (all from second hand parts total spend £300) and has meant the 5 year old transfer pump can retire. (Well almost, its now used in our hot tub hire business)
This post is not too have a go at you, it is pointing out the fact that there are a lot of "experts" on this forum, many of  these have never actually  put there knowledge to the test and built or tried anything other than what the suppliers want to sell or tell them.
Hope this helps anyone looking for a second hand water purification system.

Fair enough but I'm just going by what Pure Freedom said. Not sure on lpm but Merlins are pretty inefficient and require a good throughput to get the tds down. It is likely to be a false economy to use a pump that doesn't vet decent throughput as your resin consumption will be high.

From Pure Freedom. "Suitable for our 200, 300 and 450 GPD Reverse Osmosis units. Simply install the pump inline between your prefilters and RO membranes."

The inlet and outlet are the narrow push fit you get with those small units and it's designed to go between the prefilters and the RO. The Merlin requires a pump before the filter.

If it were me, I'd factor in the £250 for a decent pump in any purchase decision - worst case. Worst, worst case new membranes too.
