Ive started rain-water harvesting. In the last month my daily supply from the waterboard has gone down from 927 litres per day to 592.

interesting, how much rainwater are you able to store ? take it you have a separate tank from ro system and switch to it after heavy rain. To be able to knock over a 1/3 off your water bill is good going. :)

Off the top of my head somewhere around £50.00/month. This is supply and sewerage combined.

I can store 800 litres. Its either fed from my RO or from the gutters on the house. If its forecast wet the RO gets turned off. My rain-water is approx 7PPM TDS. I use it straight as it is out the tank if its rainwater, without going through the D.I.

I've wondered about doing this and running through a di.

Wasnt it someone on here who couldnt work out why he was so ill and it turned out to be rain water that was causing it.

We used to use rain water a few years back and then switched to PPB. I would be tempted to use rain water again but it would have to go through filters to kill the nasties (purple rhino)

There would be nothing in rain water that wouldn't be lurking in our tanks so I wouldn't recommend drinking it if its been
sitting for a while.
Would still run it through a sediment filter though just to remove any sediment that might be in it, some people forget that
sediment can also be left on the glass when it dries and it doesn't show on a tds meter.
That's why some can get away with low tds non filtered  tap water and others cant.

Nothing in rain water correct, but the water is traveling down tiles and gutters which have good knows what in/on them.

quarter-light......

I'm halfway through insulating my shed and I'm going to do the same off my house roof.  i bought a water butt for my 4040 wastage and it came with a water diverter for the downpipes.

I'm planning on still filtering my own but also collecting using the diverter all in the same tank.  is this what you do? and do you have a sponge/stocking in the water diverter to catch particles and debris?

just to add i have a small di in the van too.

Heavy drinking of alcohol can cause pancreatitis too.

Cause  never found none of usual suspects eg drink , gall stones etc right down to do I keep scorpians as pets . Most likely cause was an infection of some kind . After a lot of digging on internet found legionaires can cause pancreatitis and we had just had the hottest few weeks of the year , so in my book that was the most likely cause . So now in summer what I don't use in a few days is dumped this time of year is ok not enough heat to be a problem . If rainwater harvesting do you empty tank every few days or is there a bit left in bottom that could be a breading ground for nasties
