I know what you mean. There is no doubt they do stay cleaner after a couple of goes with the WFP.
I suppose it is to our advantage if its handled right.

I had a customer this week, tops only who asked if she could have them  cleaned every 8 weeks instead of 4.

I relctuntley said yes, But i have reflected on the issue since and have now decided that all customers who are on 4 week cleans will stay on 4 week cleans. If they change I will increase the charge by 50%. If they are not happy with that then I will have to say bye bye.

So what are we going to do about it?
Are we going to end up with a load of two month customers?

Referring to Tosh's thread about selling the idea of charging more and cleaning less often we have got to get something togeather that makes this look like a benefit to the customer ( and a benefit to us of course )

I don't mind doing a ten pound customer every two months for twelve pounds as long as I get more customers to fill in the gaps. But doing a ten pound customer for the same money every two months is not a good idea.

And I don' think the customers are going to accept a 50% price hike even though it represnts a price cut overall

I had about 35 monthly customers and the rest are 6 weekly, about 30 of the monthly ones have asked to change to bi monthly, we compramised with going to 6 weeks I told them no extra charge (because 6 weekly suits me better not that i'd tell them that), i have more at this interval anyway, the few i have left on monthly are good paying jobs so i dont really want to change them ..... shh :)

OK - here's what I am doing progressively through my round to weed and prune it to my benefit.

I put a note through customers doors who have recently (any time in the last year is ok) been changed to wfp and who I would like to do every other month instead of every month.

It says about working at height and reinforces why I will continue with pole (whd, insurance, safety issues). It has frequently asked Q's "why does ragit and run window cleaning still use ladders?" A. Cuz they don't mind risking their necks and risking you being sued for letting them work at height when there is a practical alternative...." Q. Can you do my windows above my conservatory/porch?" A. "Course I can - for a price!" Q. Will it cost more? A. More investment, new technology, purified water etc = modest increase, however as there is no detergent involved and as the frames are cleaned closer to the brickwork, I often get reports that windows (especially UPVC) stay cleaner longer and you may wish to change from monthly to two monthly cleans" prices are below:-

Remain monthly (eg £10 up from £8)

Two monthly  (eg £15)

By going two-monthly their annual spend is a little less than before (12 x 8 = 96) now (6 x 15 = 90) but my work has dropped by almost half!

I only use this selectively where it suits me!
It's a game of three halves!

I am sorry but i think that windows stay clean for longer is a myth.

They may do slightly but not to the extent where you would notice.

Has anyone tried doing an experiment on there own windows ,i have.  Result = yes you guessed both panes equally as dirty after 4 weeks.

It sounds like a sales ploy so you have more points to convince the customer of wfp

I do a 4 weekly round and every month the windows are covered in dirt and bird muck.

Birds dont stop crapping on windows just because they have been done with wfp

My observations:

With wfp the windows do stay cleaner for a longer period between cleans.

Just like with dry cleaning a garment or a car or anything.  There are different methods of cleaning that will leave a different finish.
To illustrate: I can wash the car with wash 'n wax, I may decide to do that every 2 weeks, but the car probably needs doing again after a week.  Or I can wash it with purified water, it will stay cleaner for a bit longer, but will still need cleaning again in 2 weeks.
With the illustration of the car, it will always need the clean at 2 weeks (or whatever is your preference), because it travels on dirty roads at speed.

With windows, I've noticed, if theres been hardly any wind or rain, and the birds are constipated, they are cleaner when I next call, but those times are rare.  Not often enough to go to longer intervals.
If customers want to go longer thats ok by me, though, there usually the type I don't look forward to seeing anyway.
