A little bit confused.
I live in a soft water area which is Cornwall.
I had quotes from compaines which say I don't need a reverse ominous  system (spelling could be wrong)
Just a di system
Is this correct  could anyone give me  some advise

hi mate im also very lucky and live in a very soft water area(tap tds 29-35).

DI only is all you need.i have a giant 25L DI and i simply connect up and purify it straight into tank(takes around 70 mins to purify 500L)every evening then when the tds starts to rise i go double DI until the older vessel reaches my tap tds.

thats it.its that simple and hassle free.a 25kg bag of resin lasts me around 3-4 months.

you can purify on demand and have the DI after pump but id rather have the extra space in the van

i bought a brand new 500L tank and frame for £400 and got my local garage to fit it for £100.pumpbox,reel/100m microbore and a couple of DI vessels,3 poles(22ft/25ft/47ft).you got yourself a pole system.

Buy yourself a tds metre (you'll need one anyway)
If it's under 80-100ppm then you'll get away with  D.I only
Over that, you'll want a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system

I would say under 50 ppm is di only but what do I know anyways 
Unless you like buying di resin in bulk

If your not on a meter then I would still get an RO even at 50ppm you will save a fortune on resin.

Yes or it might work out cheaper to buy in pure water if you have a local supplier near you.

It will keep for several weeks but the tank might start growing algae and wiggly things in it if left too long.
Now if you are doing down the  di on demand route filling the tank with just tap water would last longer as it still has chlorus in the water that helps to kill off any bacterial growth.
