Hi guys ive been looking for a second hand machine to start carpet cleaning on a budget for a while

Dont worry i will be looking into training and practice before rushing into anything and dont plan to start on customers until next year im really just trying to get things in place over the next few months.

So ive kinda just bought this on eaby, does this look an ok deal for £500 assuming everything is working and not dropping to bits?

is there anything to look out for on these machines?
seller says a bit of rust on handle but otherwise full working order

whats water pressure there? i say no more then 100-135psi?

I realise this isnt a high powered porty just thought it would be good enough to get started  with have a practice and hopefully clean some carpets until I can upgrade.

The machine is fine, a bit dated now but will do the job and if fully working is worth the £500.

They are built like tanks, are a bit heavy but seem to last years, you can upgrade the pump if you wish.

I've had one for 15 years and still going strong...

I have one and it leaves carpets as dry & clean as our Enforcer does.
Yes they lack in water pressure but in truth they are as good.
All portys are crap imo.

Hi Adam , I think that machine is fine to start off. Even with a pump of only135 psi, it will get the job done. Your just going to have to work a little harder and a little slower. Most times when people are upgrading it's about getting the job done quicker as there busy. Get some training, do the best job you can  and you ll make it work with any machine. Good luck.

The Extracta Exell was a good machine twenty years ago, but unfortunately extracta never evolved like other manufacturers
and that was there demise,  I owned one up until quite recently , I found it very heavy and under powered and preasure is about 80 psi at the wand jet, but for £500 ? What do you want ? Its worth the money, I sold a broken Scorpion last month for £500

Ensure that you get some carpet cleaning training. It is not just about buying a machine. You need to understand the processes and understand what can do wrong if you use the wrong solutions and process on the certain carpets. Also make sure that you get insured. Some insurance companies will not touch you unless you have had accedited training.

   that machine will be fine if its working ok, Brian from the company that made them
 has all the parts, and the upgrades if it needs them, make sure the vac bushes are ok or you will be looking at new ones. The pump will be 100 psi that's what they come with, you need to run 7 1/2 m hose you can double up on that if you need to do upstairs. The wand in the picture is the one you get off extracta  when you buy the machine there're too heavy ,change that if you can .The machine is not too heavy to take upstairs the balance is really good , unlike the big plastic things that's on the market now that can not have a heater in it as they melt   .the company did evolve the made the turbo  that was more powerful and more quiet but sadly is prone to break down dew to the pumps and vacs .

I think thats a good enough machine package for the money  , is that an electric sprayer too ?  but its a bit like buying a used car ... something could go on it  tomorrow .
Future upgrades  ...  when something goes   ,   this 200psi pump is a steal at this price  ,

It was a pretty good design  , things like the access to the tanks , pour easy without splashing the switches . Good access for cleaning the waste tank .  Watch the low water level on the imersion as i doubt it has an electronic cutoff and will burn up . Use antifoam in the waste tank also .All those dials and switches are cool , but perhaps eat into their profit margin  . It was arrogant to never invest in newer design molds and they got what was coming in the end .

are them pumps any good how long do they last .they look like they will go in the turbo

I havn't used one  ,  i 'd sayt there are as reliable as any other . Mytee uses them  , this is the exact  same pump .

They sell replacment demand switches on the carpetcleanerstore site ( search switch )  ... i would order a spare as thats the thing that might fail first at some point .

Sounds like you have a good solid machine to start making some money and building a business.

It will serve well as a back up machine also as things start to build and upgrading is required.
