Hi ive recently added carpet cleaning to my business and have a Sabrina, powerflite 600psi and carpet buffing system. I've cleaned a few carpets now and had very happy customers. I've been using prochem crystal green as a pre spray. And prochem Stan spotter for difficult stains.

But to be fair I could do with a better knoledge on other chemicals to use spotters,  pre sprays, rinse agents ect. All the companies that make these products usually give the same patter. So I'd appreciate some advice from those on the front line of what you find works best.

I know each carpet is different but if you could point me in the right direction for your "go to" chemicals for wool, synthetics, wool mix, coffee stains, wine stains, mould, urine ect.

Also what's the best way to test what each carpet is made of?

Spend some money and go on a training course. I think you'll find that the pros have a full range arsenal of different spotters for different situations.

I have been on quite a few.
Cleans mart in Nottingham and alltec in Royston can't recommend them enough.
Paul Pearce with alltec and Derek Bolton with clean smart both know there beans.
In fact I finished a rug course yesterday at alltec with Paul and really enjoyed it.
Speak to karra at alltec or matt/mark at Cleans mart they will all look after you.

Solutions in Cornwall do one also but not been on one with them so can't comment.

ive been on cleansmart three courses, they dont breake the bank cost wise, and are a very good starting point to get you up and running. You shouldnt really be out cleaning cutomers carpets without having some training under your belt in my opinion.
Then training is an ongoing thing, keep learning, there is always something else to learn............

Jamie, where are you based. You really need to get some knowledge on chems. Crystal Green is a tank detergent, not a pre-spray, which is specifically designed to clean greasy, oily carpets such as resturants etc, not a product to be using on everyday jobs.
My guess is some janitorial supplier who hasn't a clue has advised you on this.

Many thanks will look onto courses. I was told about crystal greend by another carpet cleaner he said it was his standard goto stuff that he used all the time. And to use traffic clean for really dirty carpets.

Maybe a good place for you to start would be Prochem. They actually do some good courses at a very good price and they are not to far from you. Prochem products are also very good and are an excellent place to start. They can provide you with every thing you need to do an excellent job. Their training will provide you with the knowledge to be able to evaluate other products and experiment, to find your preferred way of working.

I have done a number of courses at Ashbys, Prochem, and Cleansmart so far and they were all very informative an worthwhile. In fact I have not been on one course yet where I thought I was wasting my time. Training is the back bone of being successful and confident in this business.

According to Jamies profile he is in Bournemouth which is nearly the  furthest point from Scotland in the country.

I would also recommend Alltec with Paul or NCCA  again with Paul.

If you fancy a trip to Cornwall there is always Solutions.

But you could fly anywhere in the country from Bournemouth in no time.

Alltec in Fowlmere (Royston)  great school well worth the trip from Bournemouth.
they run regular courses and good value imo.
