« on: May 01, 2006, 08:48:52 pm »
Been cleaning off a ladder for 15 years. How much water do I need for 30 standard, 2 storey, Victorian bay fronted houses every day? How much will a system cost? and how long does it take to used to the 'new technology'??

Are they detached/semi-detached/terraced? I get the equivilent of 7Hrs of trad window cleaning out of 350 Litres, about 17 large detached 2 story houses with bay windows.
How much will a system cost?

Anything from 500ish for basic diy setup to £3-5+k

how long does it take to used to the 'new technology'??

I've been wfp-ing for 8-9weeks and i've learnt a huge amount, but i still have much to learn. Like trad, you seem to continue to learn more about technique and also better ways to clean a particular house. I dont think you will get to a point of knowing it all.

just a curiousity question, how much does 350 litres of water cost a day on your water bill?
I'm still traditional but Im becoming interested in wfp

ps I did 34 council style houses the other day, I knew about it the next day, and I wouldnt want to do that many in a day very often! ouch lol

A standard semi with 10-12 windows will use approx 15l of water, but the bigger the tank you have, the less you are bothered about how much water you use.

Cost wise I guess that if you are on a meter then it will add a £1.00 a day to your water bill, though that will vary depending on what your water company charges.

If you put in a couple of weekends of practice, on your own home and friends and relatives then you should be able to develop a reasonable technique.
Better still attend one of the day long courses that are on offer.
You will still be pretty green for a few weeks, but your understanding of the techniques, of the problems that will arise and the solutions to them will be in place.

But 30 houses a day?
Thats 5 an hour done continuously over an 8 hour day, that is one hell of a work rate.
