Does anyone use these for jobs where you can't use scaffolding/cherry picker work?

We do a lot of builders cleans and a company have been "removed" from the books and they have asked me to do the external brick and stone work.

At present we pressure wash all the pathways for new home owners, the site cabins every now and again and we do all their low level pressure cleaning.

How do you reach the top of a gable end without the use of the above mentioned? extendable lance or off a ladder?

Don't want to be hit with an H&S breach thats all

There is a post on here regarding slx pole being converted, there is also one in window cleaning section. These are much better than the lances, u just need to buy all the bits, and put together.
Basically a wfp converted to an extendable pressure washing pole

What are you cleaning off the gable ends? Is it for new build cleaning? removing mortar etc?

If so, you will need to use acid, and the only safe way to high level acid wash is via scaffold or cherry picker.

If its only dust etc your removing, then an extendible lance will be fine. You need to be careful though that you dont get stripes from holding the nozzle too close. you wont be able to see the stripes until it dries.

The extendible lances are hard work.

its the odd bit of mortar, but mainly its watered down cement from where they've cleaned their mess up and the rain has made it run slightly.

We've been asked not to acid wash the full buildings and only on lintels/sills.

Its a pain, builders only care about H&S when it suits/audit time

I find that using a telescopic lance from the ground, u can only spray from underneath at the target, and it's impossible to clean sufficiently unless it's absolutely flat, by using a wfp with the turbo nozzle facing out the side as opposed to the top it allows you to direct your flow at the desired target, you can simply stand as far back as you want and work your way down.

I no mate, I have made do with an old brodex pole as the pressure may snap a carbon fibre,an old donkey 31' brodex poles are a good strength as up to 20' each section is only open about a third so it's firm

Haha we have used the yellow one but you would be as well using a drinking straw as the flex is so bad on them.

Another shout not to go near the yellow one !!..Used once and about smashed everything in a 6 ft radius ...Sat in lock up ever since...

There's a knack to using an extending lance.

Extend it and point it straight up in the air.

Press the trigger and hold it in place -

Either lower it toward the surface you are cleaning or get it level with the surface you are cleaning and walk towards it.

Rest it either on your belt or wedge it in your groin (buy a harness if you come from Crosby)

Done 8 hours of this today at a lot higher than a giraffe pole will extend to and with an Omnipole Power-pole.

I very rarely require it nowadays but might give it a swing this year again !
