Hi,

I need to do a risk assessment for a pregnant cleaner tomorrow.  I have got one and have done them previously with staff, but they have all been straight forward as they have been staff who are only doing a 1.5 hour shift and have no stairs involved.

This lady does 20 hours over 3 days so they are really long days, and so i'm not sure how to approach it.  I have already asked her to do less hours over more days  but she says she can't because of nursery fees.

Does anyone have any ideas or had to deal with this situation before?

i don't know abou the risk assesment but my wife is pregnant at the moment and the advice from the NHS is to not use household cleaning chemicals.

Try posting this in the contract cleaning section where there are more likely people who have dealt with this.

Where would that be ? I doubt any on here are qualified to offer any proper advice about pregnancy and its risks in the workplace

Hi Angela
Cleaning is quite a manual job, so is it not possible to give the technician light duties? The risk assessment process must result in a safe system of work and very low risk to the technician. There are a lot of liabilities for the employer regarding pregnant women in the workplace.
