Builders clean today
« on: February 19, 2015, 06:02:27 pm »
Did a builders clean today .
House has been completely re rendered.
Used scrapers and plenty of soap but still could not get all the cement residue off the glass .
Someone suggested wire wool.
Surely this will scratch glass .?
If not whete do I buy it from and how do I go about cleaning

I did a similar one last week. Never in a million years will you get them 100%. I just cleaned them as much as budget would allow and told the site manager to get the renderers back, his problem.

If you use wire wool grade 0000 apparently its fine. There was a Youtube video of a window cleaning company in Australia and he was using it, looked great.

000 wire wool is fine.

Bronze wool is even better.

Although they are a still or wire wool, they don't scratch the glass.

Bronze wool has the added benefit of making glass hydrophilic, so after you've cleaned a window with that, it's a doddle to WFP after.

Don't use any sort of wire wool to remove concrete from glass as the grit will also rub with the wool
and dull or scrape the glass.
The only way is to soak/ loosen the concrete and carefully scrape it off.

I concur

Or any cement remover that you spray and leave, and it attacks the hardening agent in the cement
