used my pump for 6 hours solid today.by 4pm the battery was reading 10.5 and flashing BAT on the controller(its a streamline digital).ive had it for a couple of years with no problems.

the battery is a brand new leisure 75ah.

when i bought it last friday i had to charge it up for 6 hours before it was reading a full charge.not good methinks as your not supposed to leave a leisure battery beyond 50% charging capacity.

any ideas lads?could it be that ive bought a duff battery?

or duff charger, could be duff cleaner too but most likely a duff battery.

Spruce explained to me that the varistream still takes power even when off.

I fitted a separate switch and it stopped the drain.

Sounds like the battery is duff thou or needs a good charge.

the charger i use is a halfords smart charger.had that a few years as well but i think its ok?

i leave the battery on charge overnight.by morning its on trickle charge(green light).

it defo shouldnt be going flat on me after 6 hours!

im gonna take it back tomorrow!

If you're taking it back i'd consider a larger 'ah' as well mate, less chance of it going under half charge if you charge it every night, so in theory it'll last longer

Dazmond you should always check the condition of a new battery by charging it until its full and leaving it
overnight connected to nothing.
Then check it with a multi meter and it should read 12.8 anything below this and its not at a new condition.
The fact that the battery needed charging when you got it home tells me its a dud.

ive put another battery charger on it tonight in case its the other charger thats at fault.

if its below 12.8 tomorrow im taking it back.

Dazmond you need to let the battery sit for at least 8 hours disconnected to get a true reading.
