call from another windy
« on: January 23, 2015, 04:12:17 pm »
Dropped about 50 leaflet sin this posh estate yesterday dinner. Always wanted to do it, as they are all MASSIVE houses. 99% Asian. 2 houses have maserati cars.
While I was dropping flyers, an Asian women pops out and askes how much for her mums house. I say £12. Her mum said she pays less to her windy. I went through the speel about cleaning frames etc. She wanted a cheap windy. Not for me
She then asked for a quote saying, she hadn't a windy because he would stand on roof to get to windows above what used to be a garage. I said £14. Loads of small windows. Ugliest house ever.
She tried bidding me down, but I aint doing them for nothing. Would take a good 30/40 mins to do. She then said her mums windy hasn't been for 3 months :o I thought I am in here.
Today I get a call from him >:(
He asked what my intensions were. What do you think. He babbled on. I said I could go anywhere I wanted. He agreed. I said whats the problem then. He just wanted me to tell him I wasn't going to undercut him and take all his custom. I told him I wasn't going to do them cheap and only getting people without a windy and old crap really. He was happy with this and said he would pass on jobs in other areas.
He said hed been doing them for 17 years yet the houses are quite new. I didn't argue. I said 1 of his customers said he hadn't been for 3 months. He agreed. I thought, you don't deserve ant customers. He also said he had 2 pole setups but only used them for commercial jobs. He said he was knocking on and would be packing it in in the not too future. I offered to buy his round when he retired. He laughed and said YES RIGHT. was it a silly question?. Cant figure some windys out. As soon as I drop flyers, they are on to phone. MY AREA. It gets my back up and swear at them a lot. I have a deep voice so they don't argue, but I wouldn't have the nerve to ask or warn someone for dropping flyers off at my customers.
He also got hold of it quick. One day one of them will wind me up and ill undercut him silly money just to wind them up  ;D
That's my rant over

Wakefield/Dewsbury areas. Lowest price is £6 for a terrace front only. Normal semi is about £7 to £10. Biggest house is £20.

Everyone deserves ant customers.

I once had a customer that can only be described as "the human beetle"
