I have just bought a second Van and this time, and not just for the insurance issue. Im not bolting a tank in it.
Im going to build a tank / pumps / battery onto a pallet that can easily be removed from the side loading door. It will be strapped in using only Manufacturers fixing points.

the controls units will be wired onto the Loadbay lining and multi plugs will connect the pallet to the wiring..

In this configuration there is no way it can be classed as permanent therefore it cannot be a Modification.
as for safety. A steel bulkhead, and strops attached to every available tiedown point is safer than it floating loose like a builders barrow..

the safety becomes an issue when rubbish old straps or lightweight straps are used..

WOW £140 all in fully comp compared to aplan for last 12 months which was £340+

Yeah but it's a whole different level of cover.
A-plan supply a wfp fitted out vehicle!  ???

With A plan it is £82 less vat  for a fitted out van same priced as any other selected courtesy vehicle .  Best thing really is to phone around as things have changed considerably over the years .

With A-Plan at the moment, Renewal price £1400 on a 60 plate partner, tank bolted down. I'm 25. Years no claims and no crashes or convictions on my record.

I hate insurance with reference this water tank .

Mine is professionally fitted and 100% safe

Others are ratchet strap , loose containers etc . I know which one I think is safer .

A builder can throw anything in his van loose and heavy .

Amazing

The insurers just FLEECE us for having a water tank .
My quotes are usually from £450 to £600
For 650 litres

Try morethan bud.
Online, the drop down menu has water tank listed.
It was literally not a penny more for me to declare it.
They don't cover gas though, if you've a boiler too.
A-Plan (albeit with the L5) wanted £700 odd. Morethan (who I went with) just under £400

It's just the internet. Try not to worry.

Mention 'Water Tank' to some companies and they instantly conclude that you are the Devil Incarnate, refuse to provide any cover and run a mile -
Mention it to other companies and they exercise common sense, listen to the details of your set up and all is well.
The trick is sorting out which companies are which and making sure you declare and insure with the right one so that you don't find yourself in a hole with no insurance.

Eddie stobart ratchet straps are attached to to high rated tie down hooks welded to the lorry chassis .....not  thin 250kg rated hooks welded to thin sheet metal .

No way I woujd trust those tie down points in an accident .

I have just had a new system fitted in a new van and notified insurance today.
The price did not change.
