Well I've just done a 5 hour round trip to pick this up and I must say I think it's a good buy for £330

Why?
1. One of the vacs is a 5.7 electro fitted by Altec 9 weeks ago and he gave me the receipt for £195
2. The immersion heater is also virtually brand new, again fitted by Altec
3. Although it looks very tatty this is not damage from abuse - what was thought to be a black machine that had been scratched was actually a granite-grey machine that the guy had tried to spray black but the paint has started flaking off all over. You can actually rub it off in places with your finger!

I have taken off those old badges and I think with a bit of effort at the cosmetics I can bring this back to being a very nice machine  

Does anyone know if Masterclean are still about or where spares can be got?

Depends what your after. If its things like quick connects, covers for buttons, vac, pump heads, rubber gaskets etc then most carpet cleaning supplies place will sort you out. i.e. clean smart, Alltec etc  Look after that waste tank lid though, looks quite unique!

I wanted some new front wheels and a gasket that goes under that funky waste tank lid. Not sure if these are in sizes specific to the machine or things that you could get anywhere.

Not only is the waste tank sprayed silver, but so is the drain valve at the rear. Give me strength!

Would it originally have had a lid on the clean tank?

I should think so. Will help keep the steam in when the heater is on and stop any crap falling in i.e. saving your pump long term.
You could probably get away with a lid from another machine. From the looks of it a prochem steam pro lid would probably fit that or maybe you could fashion something out of some ply board.

I presume the waste tank gasket is circular? Not sure which other machine has a circular waste tank. You could just use a folded over terry towel over the hole, then put the lid on top. I did this with my old steam pro years ago, worked better than a gasket and lasted forever!

Post a pic of the front wheels. Again, most machine selling suppliers will be able to get these for you.

If you want one with a break, just call Cleansmart and they'll send you a set from their Airflex machines.

Good idea about the terry towel , or you could cut a porcelain tile the exact diameter as the lid hole.

Masterclean used to be in crawley not sure they are still there though. The Ninja uses a round tank gasket so may be worth seeing if its the same if not you can buy sticky backed foam in different thickness rather like a draft excluder.

So did my Dad as it happens, but he is 72 with poor eyesight
