How Much to charge for Conservatory roofs?
« on: November 07, 2014, 11:30:47 am »
I have just picked up a house in a rural area close to me at a fairly good price for a once a month clean.  It has 2 large conservatorys which i am charging £8 each for.  Both 3 sided and have about 13 panes of glass in total.  The woman then asked me to clean the conservatory roofs aswell every few months.   I have only cleaned 1 conservatory roof before so i'm not really sure on how to price it.  Should i just match the price i am charging for the windows which is £8 per conservatory?  Or is that far too cheap.  She doesn't want the roof to be laboured she just wants me to get as much dirt off as i can she doesn't want it perfect.

What would you charge to clean a conservatory roof?  I am using WFP to clean everything including the Conservatory roofs too.

Might be worth noting, she does have a  bit of money as her husband has his own business which does very well.  Not trying to overcharge but it is 10 minutes out of my way so want to make sure im pricing this right!

Thanks Guys!

Dont give it away mate!  ::)roll

We charge £3.50 per roof panel with a minimum charge of £40.00 we clean them week in week out at that price. Very rarely if its small and not very dirty we will drop to £30.00 Also if a customer has the roof done every other window clean we do them for £20.00
The best way to predict the future is to create it.

I won't clean a conny roof unless I'm going to clean it properly. If she's asking to get the bad bits off, then she sounds like she wants it done cheap. Offer to do it properly, finials, crest, struts, the lot and price accordingly. I usually charge between £70 and £150 for mingers.

Exactly this.

We clean 1 or 2 a week for non customers and charge proper money for doing a proper job.

Okay guys thanks i could do with some advice though.

How can i clean it properly if i use WFP is that good enough?  I was only going to clean the glass but i will ask her if she wants the plastics done too and charge more, just wasn't sure if using WFP will get it all done as i've not really done it before.

Still fairly new to window cleaning guys bit of a newbie on things like this.

An outside tap usually helps. Gardiners sell a Hozelock to EZ-Snap fitting, get a good length of pole hose to connect to that fitting (enough to go all round a conny) plus a male EZ-Snap fitting. Buy some Viro-Sol. Dilute a mixture to about 5 parts water to 1 part Viro-Sol. Apply this to the finial etc with an extended lance (easily made DIY) or dip your brush in a bucket of the mix. A sill brush with fan jets will do the best job.

i only take them on if they have an outside tap and use one of the spray handles you can adjust the spray on fan, cone, jet, mist etc

firstly i sort the finials out
secondly underneath the finials
thirdly the white bars
fourthly the panels fifth the end bars and caps
fifthly the gutters inside and out

i work my way around until all the conny is clean then use same detergent on the window frames and cills

then give it a good rinse over using the customers hose

then finish off with pure water

Been doing loads of these lately, the way I do it is using a garden sprayer filled with soapy water spray the whole roof then scrub with the water off then go over it with the water on then rinse off.

Got new customer today. Nice house and people. I quoted £12 month. He asked how much for cony roof. I said £20 extra as I was doing cony anyway. I told him its normally £40/50. I did it. What a pain. Took ages. Path was bad and slippery etc. It will make each month quicker for me. If it sa one off...DONT DO IT CHEAP. Its quicker doing windows

We ve all been there mate! All conny roofs take at least an hour to clean properly so charge more than your hourly window cleaning rate cos it's harder work too.think £50 or £60 next time mate or higher.you won't get as many but they'll be worth the hassle then.
price higher/work harder!

Ive done em too cheaply for a few years ... started this pricing about 6 months ago and its working for me ... priced at about £45 to £50 an hour .......... no point in doing them for less if your a sole operator with a nice well priced full round of windows to get thru ...

if you have staff then yes it makes sense to do them cheaper 2 hours @ £10 = £20 wages so pays to do them at £20 an hour  :)
