Because I do Blinds I have just stuck to Cleaning Carpets and have not gone into hard floors, tile and grout Commercial , Window Cleaning etc. Perhaps I should have as i heard  yesterday  the boss of local Cleaning Company is Moving from his very large house , to a purpose built very large house.

Yesterday I was cleaning Carpets in a disabled Care Home but they have Vinyl areas that they clean themselves with a mop and bucket , but although it looks clean it has lost its sparkle.

What is the best way to bring back sparkle on this type of flooring, obviously without making it slippery

Depending on the type of vinyl sometimes a scrub, vac and buff is all thats required.

On most floor a coat of a low gloss floor finish can help if its really neglected to bring back some colour without causing issues to dementia sufferers or affecting slip resistance.

I think all they were looking for is a product that would give them a non slip gloss finish they could apply themselves or their domestic.

Is there one you could suggest.

Now i think about when i spent weeks in hospital they used to come along with a light buffer once a week perhaps they should get one.

Ahhhh the Holy Grail.....

Mop it on, looks shiny, all sorted 

All good branded finishes conform to slip resistant standards.

Matt is desireable for dementia patients rather than high gloss.

This is what I would recommend as a finish. It will enhance the colour and protect without being too shiny.

I wouldnt however recommend its carried out in house and they use a pro as it can be easy to carry out the task but just as easy to make a mess of it.

Hi Ian, if its a standard cotton string mop (which are one of the most useless tools used within the industry and fit well into the range of CFU products, you could suggest that they change to using microfiber floor cloths in combination with flat telescopic mops which are far more effective and a neutral pH floor cleaner of their choice would be fine for maintaining vinyl floors.

I did not take much notice of what she was using  they just sprung it on me at the end. I said I would use my team of consultants  thats you guys and see if I could pick anything up at carnival on saturday

Just wondering out of curiosity dose anybody else agree that cotton string mops fit perfectly well into the range of CFU products.

Cleaning of these floors is, normally, not difficult at all. As a finish I use Karndean or Amtico floor seal. Worst one I've done had several coats of Astonish sealant. Absolute nightmare stripping that stuff off, took twice as long as anticipated.
