Yesterday when cleaning out the runners of an old set of patio doors my Gardiner
brush went discolored and I think the customer must have greased the runner.

There looks a blob of black stuff near the stock. I have soaked the brush for 24 hours but still the same.

Is there any way of cleaning it or would it ha e to be thrown awah?

TFR & boiling water should sort you out.

I've had this before with light coloured grease. I got a bucket of very strong window cleaning detergent and scrubbed the brush like crazy for ages in the bucket. Kept testing the brush every few scrubs until it left no streaks on the glass

I've cleaned a black brush with grease on it using a carpet cleaning product I have.
But don't see why you can't soak brush in diluted bleach,think that May work

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll start with sunshine's and move in from there.

I'll keep you all posted.

I will be a bit wary of these doors in the future. Anyone else had this problem in the past?

We have alleygates round here and the tops are covered with anti vandal grease, once my brush rested on it and i never noticed what i picked up until i unleashed black grease all over the window. As others have said hot water and detergent will remove it.
