Use a Nilfisk GD10  occasionally, Paul. Doesn't get a lot of use.  Very efficient but mine is plug in with a 50' lead. They do the same with a battery pack.  Not sure of run time for a full charge but I doubt if it would make your hair stand on end

Paul

I would look into the battery replacement price and expected life span if used every day or laid up for weeks at a time!

Back packs are more efficient over all within the commercial environment! That’s why cleaning operatives don’t like them!

We have tried a few back packs and without doubt the Numatic is streets ahead of the rest in terms of performance (electric lead type).

The downside is its a heavy old lump and no one likes wearing it for any length of time, straps cut in under the arms etc no matter how much they are adjusted. Perfect bit of kit if only used for short cleans or tight areas where there are lots of obstructions.

The battery ones trialed (bear in mind they were to replace Henry Numatics tubs in daily office cleaning environments) never stood the test of time. Battery life was ok to poor and if the cleaner didnt put on charge at end of shift........yep, no vacuum for the next evening!

Just got an add on contract for windows and communal hallway vacuuming. No electrical sockets in hall ways so it has to be a battery back pack or genny.

If it's just for carpets then have you tried this as a cheaper alternative?

I had a go with one in a pub I was cleaning I was quite impressed.
