Petrol station window, canopy and pump clean
« on: April 01, 2006, 12:20:54 pm »
I've never quoted for this type of job before, so I need a bit of help from you guys. I've got 8 windows to clean (all about 1.5m x 1.5m) and the canopy/sign across the top of the forecourt shop (approx 1m x 15m). Everything is quite grubby.

While at the station today, the manager asked whether I'd clean the pumps. There are 6 of these; all have 3 fuel nozzles each side and are covered in the usual petrol station grime. I didn't say yes to cleaning the pumps because I wanted to consult this forum. What should i charge for the windows and canopy, and the pumps if I decide to clean them?

Obviously, this will need to be done when the forecourt is quiet, but probably out of business hours.

Cheers

I personnally would leave the pumps well alone, could be a minefield of Health and Safety trouble.

As for the windows and canopy, give him a price that would allow you to earn your hourly plus a bit extra for out of hours.

Yes - watch out for the diesel etc at the pumps. I did a security grille once and discovered thick grease from the guides had got on to the bristles. Great fun getting the stuff out.

Maybe an idea to spray the pumps with some degreaser first and then wash them down. Can't be too many issues about spraying them with water - they're in the elements 24 hours a day aren't they. Ask the owner what they used to use and if there are any issues to be aware of.

Ooops - never done any petrol stations, but I didn't consider that at all.
