Public Liability
« on: June 05, 2014, 05:08:24 pm »
Mornin all, what are you paying for your public liability insurance and what does it cover you for ?
I'm with NFU have been for years, never claimed yet my premiums keep going up, I just quized them about this and got 12% discount, taking it down to £ 380 PA, still seems a bit steep to me
this covers me for £1M public liability inc any damage to customers property, £2k tools in van and £10k for malicious wounding !!!!!

Malicious wounding sort of tells you it's not the sort of insurance you should be having.

I put a claim in with the NFU many years ago. They said they were not going to pay out. The assessor who was independent said they should pay out and basically they were taking the pi**. I wrote a letter to the NFU saying they had mis sold me the policy and that I would be taking it further. They then paid out.

If you look on here you will find a good insurance company for much less

NFU   for me every year,

for both P/L  and treatment risk, always helpful , although never having to make a claim (yet, touch wood ) I hear nothing but good things re. no quibble and paying out .

Cant tell you exactly how much my premium is off top of my head m but I,m sure both don't amount to as much as what your quoted.

First one I've heard of who do tools in van 24/7...all my quotes have been for tools in van between 06.00 - 22.00.

Public Liability is one thing which is essential  and in this day and age you should cover for 5 million.
Cost of this insurance is relatively cheap.

Treatment risk - tools in van etc are a totally separate issue

I'm with Swinton.. Costs me £183 per year for items worked on and treatment cover.  £5 million P/L as I need it for the schools with the window cleaning side.

Not insured my tools as I've got that covered with my house insurance/shed.

Simply Business have been very for me.

Annual premium £170.00.
2 Million P/L
3K for tools on van, anytime, anyplace, anywhere. Theft or accident, so long as van is properly secured. (Over 3k then for theft, a thatchems approved alarm needs to be fitted.)
Includes items worked on and treatment risk.
Definately worth getting a quote.
