£45 for an hour and a half and its under priced.
You would wonder why students would want to get into so much debt when cleaners
can makes more money and be debt free.
First off he was paid £40.
Second he will have travelled to the job. So let's say 15 minutes.
So.... it's now £22.85 an hour. Out of that he has to pay fuel, his van costs (servicing, tax, insurance, maintenance etc.) Then he has to pay his equipment costs (pole, RO etc). My total of these two last year was £3.72 an hour. Then his other overheads (ink, lighting, pcs etc.). Mine totalled 60p an hour last year.
So that's £4.32 combined an hour. It's now £16.53 an hour.
Everyone expects 4 weeks holiday pay as a minimum. That has to be another £2 an hour off. No pension rights! So now £14.53. He has no sick pay, can't work when it rains. It takes him 3 years to build a good business struggling with income and all for £14.53 an hour!! That's being generous.
Seriously Sean, you really shouldn't be running a business if you can't "do the math". Forgive me if some of my numbers are out a little. It was rushed as I have to get back out, but you get the gist I hope.
Edit. I had already paid for my van so the cost of the van itself is not included. I paid £5k three years ago so that would have to come off too. Probably about £13.50 an hour. Madness as a self employed person! You would be much better off in a job with security, pension and sick pay.
Cracking Post.
He's making £23 an hour and lets say he works 30 hours per week that's £790.
So it costing him £340 a week in expenses to make this amount not including the cost of the van.
Yet you think this is a cracking post.
Come on be honest your not a self employed window cleaner are you.
