HELP! Problem with vac gauge on Blazer
« on: May 01, 2014, 03:05:02 pm »
Hi all

I noticed today that the water in the vac gauge on my Blazer plus is only half full of water?
So my questions are these

1/ Should I be worried?

2/ What could cause this?

3/ How would I fix it?

Some of you will know, I'm pretty useless with the technical stuff, but willing to try!

Many thanks in advance

Justin

It contains oil it to stop the needle bouncing its probably got a leak  I would think that it will need to be replaced cant replace the oil but it might work fine anyway.

It's filled with Glycerine. It doesn't suggest there is anything wrong other than the gauge has developed a leak, just replace it.

You can buy the Glycerine in the chemists to top it up. Or replace it, cheap as chips.

Make sure it not Nitroglycerin type ;D ;)

Most gauges have an airspace in the oil. If it still works leave it be. Pressure gauges are the ones that vibrate the most.
