Telesales - anyone do their own?
« on: April 25, 2014, 04:24:10 pm »
I just wondered what approach people take. I was thinking tackling vertical markets using Yell as a data source. So dental practices, care homes, nurseries and so on. I just wondered what others did.

vertical markets ??
Yes. Sorry, I wasn't trying to be clever. So for example banking & finance is one, engineering companies might be another.

In our terms I guess targeting dentists as one, solicitors as another, care homes etc.

But you can't just start ringing businesses. Well you could, but a plan would be better. With domestic work you wouldn't target council estates if you had a brand new van and Ionics system. Similarly, there is no point targeting multinationals. It's a case of identifying target markets where decisions are likely to be made locally and there is a need to have their windows cleaned. I don't have much commercial work and was wondering how those that used telesales identified prospects.

I used to use the telephone for commercial work, nursing homes and pubs mainly. Spent many an hour going through the Yellow Pages. We had some good results, but it was years back.
Where am I knocking today?

Why wouldn't you target council estates with a new van and an Ionic system?

Some of my best customers are from council estates.

Because in general that type of work is fiver a house type of work - low priced and an Ionic system costs a fortune.

If you find it pays, great. I generally find that they are full of teenagers with babies watching Jeremy Kyle. There are obviously exceptions.
