Maybe airlock in my pump??
« on: April 15, 2014, 12:05:28 pm »
Hi all, newbie carpet cleaner here. i have a steampro 2000 that hasnt been used for 3 years, vac works perfect but having problems pumping the water, in fact no water is getting to the wand at all!
Is It common to get an air lock or could it be the pump has had it?? I have tried using a hose to push water through with no joy, im thinking to maybe take hose off from pump and give it a good suck like i would with an airlock on a water fed pole pump??
The pump makes constant noise which im sure is meant to cut out when at full pressure??
Your help would be of great assistance for me here.

If it wont bleed out and its not the quick connect coupling on your machine/tools/hoses it may be this part is stuck closed.

It could be just an airlock, simple to cure, open ended tube expells the air in seconds, but it could be the check valve thats seized also, I had an extracta Exell that had not been used in a while and thats what the problem was,

Right, pump works perfectly but no water is getting out the fitting that the wand hose attatches too?? I tested it with an open end conector!.
Could it be old dried solution etc that over a few years of no use has blocked the pipes?? Is that possible at all?.
Cheers guys.

water comes out of the open end hose? but nothing comes out when connected to the wand or hand tool?

Have to tried opening up the machine to see if you have any kinks in the hoses that run in and out of the pump? Have a look for that.

Just read you opening post, you haven't used it in three years. Do you use powered detergents in the clean water tank?

Yes i opened it up to chech that the pump worked by removing the hose and checked theres No kinks or anything, has only had prochem chemicles in it.
It has to be that its clogged up.

If you suck kettle de scaler through it you will probably find that unclogs it, you can use this stuff on flojet or sureflow pumps safetly as there isnt any alloy parts in them

I would first suspect that the internal pump valves may be stuck perhaps due to mineral deposits. Inspect and clean.
If this does not cure the problem, then install new valves and be done with it.

This could also be the problem with the pressure regulator as well. Inspect the internal pin/plunger.

Hope this helps, :)
