one of my customers has had 5 velux windows  replaced  and there self cleaning glass but she has asked just to rub them with a soft dry cloth doesn't want the coating coming off  my answer was its ok I don't use chemicals it pure water
they get damaged if you use any chemicals        she requires them to be cleaned monthly  was i right

Otherwise every time it rains it would take the coating off.

You could also tell her she has wasted her money by getting self cleaning glass. Lol if anything it just makes it easier for you to clean.

They're made to be cleaned by water. I'm not sure about chemicals but lots of water and a softish brush would be better than a cloth.

Depends what you class as chemicals really, but pure water is far safer.

The only glass i wont clean with ANY chemical is reflex glass. The nano coating get destroyed with anything like virosol,ubik.

Reflex glass can be cleaned with

"Heavy dirt can be loosened with a soft brush and washed away with normal soapy water."

I have seen the damage done using just Fairy and water.

I've done our conservatory roof with a wfp with no problems.
They're not a waste of money, they're dead easy to clean. The water just flows off.

Page 27 gives a list of glass cleaners ok to use.

I clean  a lot of conny roofs on my round and I was shocked when the lady stated what the company said about waterfed people

We have about 6 customers with reflex light domes.

A customer went out her window onto flat roof and cleaned the light dome with fairy and warm water.

After it dried the glass was destroyed, you could see the coating was damaged.

The glass was changed FOC. The glass fitter told her it was unusual but not uncommon.
