Nail varnish
« on: March 28, 2014, 06:47:00 pm »
Its a stain I have little success in.

Anyone got any tips on removal from a wool/ wool mix carpets?

Tried P.O.G in the past with no success. Tried shop bought acetone with no luck.

I recently bought Alco-spot and Acetone Glue Remover  both from craftex but not even opened them yet. Would I have much luck with these?

I have a client that lives quite far'ish. I usually do a lot of work for her each time I go so its worth my while, but she wants me to do just the one room with the nail varnish. I would only go if I knew I could remove it fully. I'll tell her to call her insurance otherwise.

thanks
Tony

Acetone is what I use. Don't beat yourself up if it don't come out.
It's not expensive, you just can't afford it.

Firstly I wouldn't give any guarantee that it will come out. I always say to the custy first, are you going to make a claim on the insurance if it doesn't come out. If they say yes.....I tell them to go that route first.

I've done many nail varnish stains over the years and many do come out with acetone and prochem citrus gel + HWE. Some however will not come out as there can be a bottle of nail varnish spilled and it's just too dense. Also it can dye the wool.....so sometimes there is no chance.

It's the same old story really, you have a dedicated customer and you want to do your best.

I would just say it's a 50/50 chance that it will come out without making any promises and they would have a call out fee.

Mostly if it's a new enquiery, I tend to fob these jobs off, but with it being an existing customer you have to try your best sometimes.

Thanks.

Yeah I don't mind not giving guarantees on jobs like that, its just the distance thing.

Would that be 100% acetone? not the rubbish you get out of super drug.

Thanks Mike

I've got this stuff http://www.restormate.co.uk/epages/15094.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/15094/Products/0073

Data sheet says its 90% and says it removes polishes and varnishes.

Wish she lived closer, would like to experiment but cant be arsed with the distance  :-\

That's the one. I have a 5 litre from some years ago but cant find it on the search. Looks like they don't do 5 litres any more
