hi all
just started delivering my leaflets today & once started got quite into it ! recon i did about 200 in 2 hours 
now while i do not expect to get alot if any work out of that  i would think if i stuck to a area of about 5-6000 delivering 2-300 aday would do this in about 5 weeks ready to start at the begining again by the 2nd - 3rd  go people may feel comfortable giving me a ring to quote them as in there area & not a here today gone tomorrow sort of outfit
does any of the established carpet cleaners work on this basis ? & does it work ?

Most people wont even know they have had a leaflet from you before, unless they need you
do you remember the name of the last builder, plumber, roofer, etc. that stuck a card through your door?
Fact is most just bin virtually everything that comes through the door.
They just give it a quick scan to see what your selling, most will get to "carpet cleaning" and then bin it

Just keep on posting
Its just a case of them getting a leaflet at the right time (when there thinking of getting it done)
for example.

just had builders in
just moved in
thinking of selling
renters moving out
thinking of replacing but cant afford to
expecting a baby
family visiting

these are the most common reasons, and most jobs i do are from one of these reasons
the good thing with repeating areas is
most people find thereself in one of these situations sooner or latter, so if you just keep banging away you will get the work.

just had first enquiry but not in the area i have been delivering too !
quoted over the phone for 2 bedrooms £60 though didnt give the size's thought that about right also bit of practice  
also wanted curtains cleaned but said they should be dry cleaned
may get back to me who know's

someone probably passed your leaflet onto a friend or relative get that a lot who wants carpets cleaned always ask where they got your number and go out in person to survey job you will secure a lot more jobs this way

That you need to deliver your leaflet several times to get people used to you.


Ie Betterwear Cat etc.

Do you think this needs to be same style leaflet each time.

Interested to know who uses same style all the time.

For example 50% off leaflet by National Companies is consistant.

So do you need same leaflet throughout the year.

ive thought about this recently ian,

i would say yes, a second hit should be the same, or at least only minor changes that is for completly new areas to you, areas you done for years really does not matter, when i changed mine alot i had work on first hit in areas i done for years,

just delivered a completly new area i ve never done before (lots of leaflets) not a single call, as i expected.  when i do it again i relised i might have changed my leafs again by then, so decided to keep some back just for this area, i just got a feeling for a good 2nd hit effect they should be the same.

i think they'll think oh another carpet cleaner and not relise its the same company.

Ive just put 5,000 out with a time limited offer on for a trial, the idea being to repeat in 6 weeks just after the offer ends with the same basic flyer but with a different time limited promotion

We have been using these leaflts for past 3 years and always worked.

looks a good leaflet ! getting much work from it this time of year ? only put out 500 in 2 day's only 1 enquiry though i will stick with it think it could be a waste of time until after easter !

Tom if you do nothing you'll get nothing! keep on doing them you will feel better when you get a call, in 6 months time you will get more calls as people will see your van around and think of the leaflet.

I started doing this last year and have not looked back.

how are you getting out 20,000 a month ? are you do you use the local paper that would not be a problem for me as i know the bloke well who run's the boy's & girl's for the local paper's though not sure it's a good idea

Im aiming for the 5000 a week, ive had a retired guy recommended to me locally who does them at £30 a thousand solus and a mate whos just opened a gym has got his 2 girls delivering a couple of thousand a week so for a bit of extra money for them theyve said they'l put mine through at the same time,tried delivering them myself in my spare time and only managed 1-200 a day in around an hour, easier to pay out and keep warm i reckon

20000 or 100000 a month don't forget to check your figures or you'll be filling someone else pockets!

Look at how much is going out cost wise ie 20000 @ £25 per thousand is £500 plus leaflet printing say £300 based on 2 sided A5 = £800.

Do you know the job price of an average job?

At this time of year how many calls per thousand do you think you will get?

How many will you turn into work?

On simple maths

average job ticket £100, you will need 8 jobs to break even (this would be very diappointing return)

on average 1-4% ie 20 calls or 80 calls (that's better)

Now if you do your local areas you could visit everyone and you will get may be modestly 6/10, so averaging everything.....

50 calls getting 6 out of 10 secured = 30 jobs @ £100 = £3000

So it could be a very good investment.

Best people to talk to are Doug and Mike Halliday as they have done effective leafleting for years.

20,000 Costs me €550 printed in Full Colour.  I have a delivery team of 4 people deliverying constantly for me and it keeps me busy.

It might be worth looking at getting your leaflets printed in Ireland and paying a Euro price for them, since the € to £ rate is good at the moment.

my leaflets cost about £200 for 10.000 and my best leaflet so far (i'm still testing different ones) will bring in around 3 face to face quotes per thousand and on average i will turn 2 of these into bookings, average job price £94.

So every thousand will cost £20 printing say £30max for delivery, that means for every £50 i spend i get at least £188 back.

For me i'm happy with that i will do 2-3 jobs a day no problem and earn from £138 to £207 every single day and then within time repeats and referalls will come through and you can reduce the ammount of leaflets and be earning £200 plus every day without breaking your back and theres more there if you want it.

Now comes the problem (finding reliable distribution) thats the one i cant crack.
Iv tried quite a few local firms now and there response rate is terrible (there going on a skip or in a lake) i'm sure.
were i will do 5000 and get 15 calls 10 jobs they will do they same and get 2-3 jobs max if im lucky.
Iv found one reliable lot that get the same response and there just coming to the end of 7000 since christmass (to slow)

if i could do 5000 a week my turnover purely from leaflets would be £1000 a week from day 1.
