They cumbersome, the pole hose has to go into a loop and this annoyed the hell out of me, also if need to dismantle the pole you have to disconnect it all
Go for a aquadapter or the Aqua tap from peter fogwill

Do they work with hot water? Pole hose is really stretchy with hot water. Again, i have never used one so dont know. If they do i will get one, have been looking but not sure if it will work.

I wouldn't mate I used to when I started but there are much better options, I use the hose tap from gardiners and if I change from that it'll be for the aquadapter etc.

Its good having the tap there on the pole but the loop of hose when your pole is closed is really annoying.

However if you are getting them pure freedom sell them http://www.purefreedom.co.uk/pole-flow-control-valve-new-design-p-333.html?page=4

it will drive you potty in the end having it fitted to the pole or a holster, easier to keep an inline valve on the pole hose near the end and hold it in your hand between the pole or use an aquadapter

I work with a loop and pole tap on my pole,

I've tried all th other  different ways and
This is the best for me,

I use a Gardiners small tap, taped about 5 inches
Up from the base of my pole!

Save loads of water and work nice and fast 😃
keep it simple

Cheers for all the great comments guys, I might just get an inline tap and then just hold it or try taping it on pole but as regards aquadaptor and aquatap I read a lot of people seem to have a lot of probs with the brush head being too finicky turning off and on and the aquadaptor locking up too?
Out of both I'd probably try the aquadaptor but is there a few different models?

Yeah the loop can be a pain at times but easily compensated for by the instant fingertip control.

aqua daptors for me.you can use them with hot water but you need the stiff red pole hose made by aqua-daptor.

pole hose taps are an absolute pain IMO.an AD on your main pole is so much easier and faster for regular work.

saying that i have one on my 47 footer but it gets used a lot less than my 25.
price higher/work harder!
