Van smashed today
« on: January 23, 2014, 04:54:44 pm »
Just driving behind a lorry today when it decides to stop in the middle of the road.  then decides to reverse straight into me.  didnt hear me beeping and i couldnt reverse as cars behind me.
f-ing annoying.  lost a days work and now got a replacement van with no ladder rack.
oh and im dead worried hes gonna turn around and lie to his companies insurance cos ive got no eye witnesses (cars behind me drove off before i could think).
What sort of a moron thinks the best idea when you miss your turning is just to stop in the middle of the road and reverse
NIGHTMARE

Last night i was looking on ebay at dash cameras, this is just the kind of instance where it would be worth its weight in gold!.

Good luck in getting it sorted out.

A similar thing happened to me once.
Was behind a luton style van when he decided to slam the anchors on and stop ON a zebra crossing.
I was slowing down anyway to stop to let people cross.
Then his reversing lights went on and started backing up towards my van ignoring my shouting out of the window and horn.
I had seconds to chuck the van in reverse and back up about 2ft as far as I could because of the vehicles behind me.
Gawd knows how he didn't crumple the front of my van, must of missed it by 2".
Complete tw#t!

Exactly same happened to me, a Stan Robinson wagon stopped in middle of road and reversed into me. It went through insurance and got paid out  ;D

It's horrible isn't it. You just instantly think they're gonna lie and try and blame you.
Absolute moron

Wasn't there an insurance company offering an insurance reduction for having one of these.

Looking at some of those accidents in Russia, they are a necessity there.

Not sure about the insurance company, but i wouldnt be surprised. Y

es, the reason why there are so many 'compilations' of Russian driving/accidents on youtube is because of the fact they have to have these dash cams!.

They are not that expensive though, so given Mr Brooke's and Mr Milton's experiences, i think i might go ahead and get one, though given Mr Milton was hit from behind, it probably wouldnt be much help in that case.

I had a guy reverse into the back of my van last year done a fair bit of damage.
He actually denied that the accident even happened, luckily I had taken photos of his car
showing the damage to his bumper which had paint that had come from my van.
Some scum bags out there.
